Event Details

12:00 – 12:45 | Andrej Lapajne | Scraping data on top 200 global companies from the web and presenting it in one visual

We’ll take a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Zebra BI’s remarkable stock market Power BI dashboard (https://zebrabi.com/stock-market-live/) which compiles the data on top 200 global companies scraped from the web and presents it in one single Power BI visual. We’ll present the steps required to create an online solution, from connecting and extracting data from a web page, using advanced data visualization methods to present complex datasets, deploy a few dashboarding tricks to ensure good user experience, and finally publishing the dashboard publicly.

In this fun, hands-on session we’ll demonstrate how we:
– scraped the stock market data for top 200 companies from the web with PowerQuery,
– created a small multiple with 200 properly scaled charts in one single visual,
– built a nice help/info overlay with animated GIFs to onboard end-users to the dashboard, and
– made sure everything refreshes automatically and actually renders in less than a few seconds.

12:45 – 13:30 | Ynte Jan Kuindersma | Power Automate & Power BI

Power BI is part of the Power Tools suite, consisting of Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate (aka Flow). I will show you how Power BI can be combined with Power Automate. For instance, how
you can extend Power BI alerts with actions you never thought were possible. The fast number of Connectors that Power Automate offers, makes things like this possible: sending Office 365 Mail,
sending Text messages, inserting rows in SQL Server or SharePoint, Posting Twittertweets, etc.
Or you can update Power BI (streaming) datasets as a reaction to an event, for instance new records in a SQL server table, an email from your boss or any other interesting thing happening in an
automated system that Power Automate has access to.
